Board candidates 2022:
Robin Braun
Robin has lived in or adjacent to the Eiber neighborhood since 1983. She has been a part of the West Colfax community for all those years, working for Rockley Music, playing trumpet at Casa Bonita, and teaching music; she has had her own business, Lakewood School of Music, since 2012. Lakewood Music is now Located at 730 Simms St. Her greatest concerns about the neighborhood are irresponsible growth and the increasing crime that comes with that including the homeless. Eiber has traditionally had a unique almost rural feel that is rapidly disappearing due to the apartment buildings popping up on nearly every vacant lot. She would like to help rally the neighborhood and make sure that our voices are heard by the city. Her skills include public speaking, community outreach and a familiarity of the issues within the Eiber Neighborhood board, as she has served as an ENA board member for several years.
Merry Hansen
Merry lives in one of the oldest homes in Lakewood. Her husband's family have occupied the house for over 100 years! Merry LOVES dogs, and LOVES to craft. She stays busy all day working full time, listening and dancing around the house to Classic Rock, and making messes with glue, glitter, paper, paint, and other craft supplies. No TV for Merry! Merry's top issues in the 'hood are crime, overcrowding with developments, and homelessness. Hopes and goals include working with the City of Lakewood to create an ordinance that says new houses must be conducive to the small town feel of the neighborhood; no fancy, modern looking houses. And that is the issue she'd like to work on. As a forever advocate, Merry has years of experience approaching and speaking with city councils in Jefferson County to advocate for policy change. She has chaired organizations and rallied the masses. And she’s good at moderating meetings and keeping them on track with the agenda. Merry has served on the Eiber Neighborhood Association Board of Directors for over 10 years.
Paul Ditson
Paul Ditson is a life-long resident of the Eiber neighborhood, arriving as a child with his family in 1964. He has been a member of the ENA board of directors since 2003, and has served several terms over the years as president and vice-president. His objectives for the next year are to assist the ENA in re-establishing its operations, monitoring development activity in the neighborhood, and working with the city on capital improvements for the neighborhood. Interests are historic preservation and working to protect and maintain the unique quality of life that the Eiber neighborhood enjoys.
Lester Stevens Jr.
Les offered to continue as the Treasurer of the ENA if there was no one who wanted the job. Les has been associated with the ENA since the late 90s. He was there when they took one of the 1st votes to create, modify and approve the By-Laws. He has been the Treasurer of the ENA since the early 2000s. At one point he owned three (3) Real Estate properties in the Eiber Neighborhood. He sold two (2) of them when the CCP Virus came along and he started spending the lions share of his time at his farm in Kit Carson County in Eastern Colorado. He still owns his original Lakewood property which he purchased in October of 1993 and it is in the Eiber Neighborhood. He put together a Treasurers Report which shows the status of the ENAs bank accounts, history and current balances.
Kerry Waldner
Kerry worked in the Information Technologies field many years for telecommunication companies. She has experience in business analysis, planning, and project managing specializing in organization efficiency and effectiveness. Her family has been living in the Eiber Neighborhood since 1988. Her children attended schools in the Jefferson County. Both of her adult children live in the Eiber Neighborhood with their family. Currently, she is blessed to babysit her two grandchildren, her new career. Her current and past volunteer experience is with West Metro Chamber Serving Jefferson County. She has been a board member for both the youth and adult - Leadership Jefferson County programs from 2000 to 2018. She still volunteers yearly for the adult leadership program as needed. Her interest in participating in the ENA is to help sustain community enrichment and a family friendly neighborhood. Also, helping to keep Eiber neighborhood safe for all.
Nancy Smith
Nancy is a 44-year member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, which is located in the heart of the Eiber Neighborhood. Some of her concerns include the pervasiveness of homelessness and increased crime, especially on Colfax. Her hopes and goals are seeing Eiber become a caring and inclusive community, one that is involved with the interests and strengths of its residents. St. Paul's participates in weekly food distribution from Food Bank of the Rockies. Members enjoy working with Eiber Elementary School - providing meals, clothing, tutoring, helping with the Eiber garden and their annual field day.
Mary Ann O’Rourke
Mary Ann O’Rourke has lived in the Eiber neighborhood for only a year but is a big believer in the concept of Community and how it can add value to both our lives and our neighborhoods. You can see a documentary of one of her efforts at Community Building in the Evergreen area here: https://www.pbs.org/video/little-library-forest-nn4ouk/
She is the VP of Operations for Choice Entertainment Technologies, which is owned by the Shubert Organization in NY, and has worked in the Entertainment industry for almost 15 years both here and in NYC. She would like to find ways to encourage and increase the participation of Eiber citizens in the Neighborhood Association and help broaden lines of communication between the neighborhood homeowners, renters and business owners and the local organizations that influence matters in this area, as well as to each other as people who care about where we live.
Mary Ann is also an active member of the Lakewood Historical Society (her home has been registered as a local landmark) and is a passionate sustainable gardener.
